ശ്രീ നാരായണ ഗുരുവിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം ശ്രീ വെള്ളാപ്പള്ളി അപഹരിച്ചുവെന്നത് കൌമുദിയെ അസ്വസ്ഥമാക്കുന്നതേയില്ല (ശ്രീ നാരായണ കോളേജുകള് ‘ശ്രീ വെള്ളാപ്പള്ളി നടേശന്‘ കോളേജുകളാവുന്നതും വെള്ളാപ്പള്ളി ട്രസ്റ്റുകള് കൂണുപോലെ മുളക്കുന്നതും നാട്ടുകാരൊക്കെ കാണുന്നുണ്ടല്ലോ..). മദ്യം വിഷമാണ്, കള്ള് ചെത്തരുത്, വില്ക്കരുത്, കുടിക്കരുത്; ചെത്തുന്നവനെ നാറും, വില്ക്കുന്നവനെ നാറും, കുടിക്കുന്നവനെ നാറും എന്നൊക്കെ പറഞ്ഞത് ഗുരുദേവന് തന്നെയാണോ എന്ന് ‘ചോവോന്മാര്ക്ക്’ ഇന്ന് സംശയം കാണും. അല്ലെങ്കിലും സമുദായ സമുദ്ധാരണമല്ലല്ലോ കൌമുദിയുടെ ലക്ഷ്യം.
സഭയ്ക്കെതിരേ ഭള്ള് പറയുമ്പോള് ഒരു നൂറ്റാണ്ട് പിറകിലേക്കൊന്നു തിരിഞ്ഞു നോക്കണം. വന്ന വഴി ‘കൊട്ടി’ അടയ്ക്കരുത്, മറക്കുകയുമരുത്. ഈഴവ സമുദായത്തെ മുഴുവന് കമ്മ്യൂണിസ്റ്റ് ആലയില് കെട്ടിയിടാനൊരുങ്ങുന്നവര് ചരിത്രത്തെ തേച്ചുമായ്ച്ചു കളയാന് കഴിയുമെന്ന് കരുതിയിരിക്കരുത്. നിങ്ങളുടെ അമ്മപെങ്ങന്മാര് തമ്പ്രാക്കന്മാരുടെ നയനസുഖത്തിനായി നിറമാറ് കാട്ടി നടന്നിരുന്ന കാലം ഒരുപാട് പിന്നിലൊന്നുമല്ല. അന്ന് അവരുടെ മാനത്തിന് വിലയുണ്ടെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞതും അവര്ക്ക് കുപ്പായം തുന്നിക്കൊടുത്ത് അവകാശങ്ങള്ക്കുവേണ്ടി പോരാടാന് അവരെ സജ്ജരാക്കിയതും കമ്മ്യൂണിസ്റ്റുപാര്ട്ടിയല്ല, ഇവിടെ സുവിശേഷപ്രവര്ത്തനത്തിനിറങ്ങിയ ഒരു വിദേശ മിഷനറിയായിരുന്നു. ഇന്ന് ‘ഈഴവ പ്രമാണി’ ചമയുന്നവര് ആ ചരിത്രമൊന്ന് മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നതു നന്ന്. ‘ജാത്യാലുള്ള ഗുണം തൂത്താല് പോവില്ല‘ എന്നൊരു പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലുണ്ട്. പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലില് പതിരില്ല എന്നുള്ളത് ‘മഞ്ഞപ്പത്രം’ വെറുതേ ഒന്നോടിച്ചു വായിക്കുന്നവര്ക്ക് മനസ്സിലാകും.

നയനസുഖത്തിനായി നിറമാറ് കാട്ടി നടന്നിരുന്ന കാലം ഒരുപാട് പിന്നിലൊന്നുമല്ല. അന്ന് അവരുടെ മാനത്തിന് വിലയുണ്ടെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞതും അവര്ക്ക് കുപ്പായം തുന്നിക്കൊടുത്ത് അവകാശങ്ങള്ക്കുവേണ്ടി പോരാടാന് അവരെ സജ്ജരാക്കിയതും കമ്മ്യൂണിസ്റ്റുപാര്ട്ടിയല്ല, ഇവിടെ സുവിശേഷപ്രവര്ത്തനത്തിനിറങ്ങിയ ഒരു വിദേശ മിഷനറിയായിരുന്നു.

ഇത് എപ്പോഴാണ് സംഭവിച്ചത് ആശാനേ ?? ടിപ്പു സുല്ത്താന് മലബാര് ആക്രമിച്ചപ്പോള് ഈ കാഴ്ച കണ്ട്റ്റ് എല്ലാവരും ബ്ലൌസ് ധരിക്കണമെന്നും മുലക്കരം നിര്ത്തലാക്കിയെന്നും കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. സഭാ സമുദായത്തിന് എന്നാണ് ആശാനേ ഈ സ്വാതന്ത്യത്തോടൊക്കെ ആവേശം തോന്നിയത്.

ReplyDeleteകമ്മ്യൂണിസ്റ്റുകാരന് പറഞ്ഞു നടക്കുന്നതല്ല സുഹൃത്തേ ചരിത്രം. നേരറിയാനുള്ള ആഗ്രഹം ഉള്ളിലുണ്ടെങ്കില് യഥാര്ത്ഥ സത്യം മനസ്സിലാക്കാവുന്നതേയുള്ളൂ. കേരളം എന്നാല് പഴയ മലബാര് മാത്രമല്ലെന്ന് ‘ജോക്കര്‘ മനസ്സിലാക്കണം. വെറും ‘മൈക്രോസ്കോപ്പിക് മൈനോരിറ്റി’ ആയ ക്രൈസ്തവര് കേരള ദേശത്തിന് എന്തൊക്കെ സംഭാവനകള് നല്കിയിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് ആത്മാര്ത്ഥമായി അന്വേഷിച്ചറിയണം. ഈഴവരും മറ്റ് താഴ്ന്ന ജാതിക്കാരും ക്രിസ്ത്യാനികള് ആകുവാന് തയ്യാറായതിന്റെ കാരണം ‘മെഴുവേലിക്കാരനും‘ മനസ്സിലാക്കണം.
ReplyDeleteറവ. മാള്ട്ട്, ചാള്സ് മീഡ് എന്നീ മിഷനറിമാരാണ് ഈഴവരും, ചാന്നാന്മാരും അടക്കമുള്ള താഴ്ന്ന ജാതിക്കാരായ സ്ത്രീകള്ക്ക് മാറ് മറയ്ക്കാനുള്ള അവകാശത്തിനു വേണ്ടി വാദിച്ചത്. 1829 ജൂലൈ മാസം താഴ്ന്ന ജാതി സ്ത്രീകളെ ‘റവുക്ക’ ധരിപ്പിച്ച് അണിനിരത്തി ഈ മിഷനറിമാര് നടത്തിയ അവകാശ സമരമാണ് ‘മാറു മറയ്ക്കല് സമരം’ ആയി ചരിത്രത്തില് ഇടം പിടിച്ച മനുഷ്യാവകാശ പോരാട്ടത്തിന്റെ ആരംഭം കുറിച്ചത്. അന്നു തിരുവിതാംകൂര് ഭരിച്ചിരുന്ന റാണി ഗൌരി പാര്വതി ഭായി ക്രിസ്തു മാര്ഗത്തില് ചേര്ന്ന ‘ഈണ ജാതികള്ക്ക്’ കുപ്പായം ഇടുന്നതിന് അനുവാദം നല്കി. വര്ഷങ്ങള്ക്കു ശേഷം 1859-ലാണ് ഈ സമരത്തിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ഘട്ടം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. അന്ന് തിരുവിതാംകൂര് ഭരിച്ചിരുന്നത് ഉത്രം തിരുനാള് മാര്ത്താണ്ഡവര്മ ആയിരുന്നു. മിഷനറിമാര് ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഗവണ്മെന്റ് അധികാരികള് മുഖേന രാജാവില് സമ്മര്ദ്ദം ചെലുത്തിയാണ് മാറു മറയ്ക്കാന് എല്ലാ ജാതി സ്ത്രീകളേയും അനുവദിക്കുന്ന ഉത്തരവ് പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചത്.

പ്രഫസര് പി.സി.കര്ത്തയുടെ(1937-98) “പഴഞ്ചൊല് പ്രപഞ്ചം“(DC books-2001) എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിലെ 109ആം പേജിലെ മൂന്നു പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലുകളാണ് മുകളില് ചേര്ത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്.

ReplyDeleteചോവോന്റെ അപകര്ഷത മറനീക്കി പുറത്തുവരുന്നതാണ് തെറി വിളികള്ക്കു പിന്നിലെ സത്യം. ചോവോന് എന്നത് ചേകവന് എന്നതില് നിന്ന് രൂപം കൊണ്ടതാണെന്ന അവകാശ വാദം തന്നെ ആ അപകര്ഷതയുടെ ആഴം കാണിക്കുന്നു. വ്യക്തിപരമായി ഞാന് ജാതി ചിന്തയ്ക്കെതിരാണ്. നാരായണ ഗുരു പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ‘കണ്ടാല് അറിയാത്തത്, കേട്ടാലും അറിയില്ല’ എന്ന പക്ഷക്കാരന്. എന്നാല് ഒരുവന്റെ സംസ്കാരത്തെയും സ്വഭാവത്തെയും രൂപീകരിക്കുന്നതില് അവന്റെ സമുദായവും ജാതിയും വിശ്വാസാചാരങ്ങളും വലിയ പങ്കു വഹിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. കുഞ്ഞന് പിള്ള ഒന്നുകില് ‘കൊട്ടി പിള്ള‘ അല്ലെങ്കില് ‘വലകെട്ടി പിള്ള’. അതുമല്ലെങ്കില് പിള്ള എന്ന വാല് ‘ബൂലോകത്തില്’ എങ്കിലും വഹിച്ച് ആശ തീര്ക്കുന്ന അപകര്ഷതയുടെ മൂര്ത്തീ ഭാവമായ ഒരു ടിപ്പിക്കല് ‘ചോവോന്’. പാരമ്പര്യമുള്ള ഒരു നായര് പിള്ള ഒരിക്കലും ഇത്ര ചീത്തയായ വാക്കുകള് ഒരു പൊതുസ്ഥലത്ത് ഉപയോഗിക്കുകയില്ല.
ReplyDeleteഈഴവര് പഴയ ബുദ്ധമത മിഷനറിമാരാണെന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു ബ്ലോഗ് കണ്ടു. കഷ്ടം എന്നല്ലാതെ എന്തു പറയാന്... കള്ളു വിറ്റ് കുറേ കാശുണ്ടാക്കി കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് ഇനി ഈഴവന് പാരമ്പര്യ മഹിമ പറയണം. അതിനു വേണ്ടിയുള്ള തരികിടകളാണ് ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള അവകാശവാദങ്ങള്ക്കു പിന്നില്. അക്കാര്യത്തില് ഈഴവനെക്കാള് ബഹുമാനം അര്ഹിക്കുന്നത് ‘പുലയര്’ ആണ്. അവരുടെ സംഘടന ‘പുലയര് മഹാ സഭ‘ ആണ്. തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് അടിമ വേല ചെയ്തിരുന്നുവെന്നും, അവരുടെ അവകാശ സമരത്തിന്റെയും രക്തസാക്ഷിത്വത്തിന്റെയും ഫലമാണ് തങ്ങള് അനുഭവിക്കുന്ന സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യമെന്നും അവര് തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നു. മണ്ണിനോട് മല്ലടിച്ചു വളര്ന്ന തങ്ങളുടെ പാരമ്പര്യത്തില് അവര്ക്ക് അഭിമാനവുമുണ്ട്. എന്നാല് ഈഴവര്ക്ക് തങ്ങളുടെ ജാതി പറയാന് പോലും മടിയാണ്. ജാതി പറഞ്ഞ് ആനുകൂല്യങ്ങള് പറ്റുകയും പ്രത്യേക സംവരണം നേടി സ്ഥാനമാനങ്ങള് കയ്യടക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു കഴിയുമ്പോള് ഈഴവന് തന്റെ സ്വത്വം ഒരു ഭാരമായി തീരുന്നു.
കമ്മ്യൂണിസ്റ്റ് പാര്ട്ടിക്കുവേണ്ടി കുറേപ്പേര് രക്തസാക്ഷികള് ആയി എന്നതല്ലാതെ ഈഴവന് ഒരുകാലത്തും ’ചേകവന്’ ആയിരുന്നില്ല. ശ്രീലങ്കയില് നിന്നും കേരളത്തിലേക്ക് കള്ളു ചെത്താനായി വന്നവര് ആണ് ഈഴവര്. ‘ഈഴം‘ എന്ന തമിഴ് വാക്കില് നിന്നാണ്. ഈഴവര് എന്ന പദത്തിന്റെ ഉദ്ഭവം. ശ്രീലങ്കയിലെ തമിഴ് വംശജരായിരുന്ന ഇവരെ തദ്ദേശീയരായ കേരള ജാതികള് തങ്ങളെക്കാള് താഴ്ന്നവരായി ആണു കണ്ടിരുന്നത്. എല്ലുമുട്ടി കൊണ്ട് ‘കൊട്ടി’ ചെത്തുകുല ഒരുക്കിയിരുന്നതു കൊണ്ട് ‘കൊട്ടികള്’ എന്നും പ്രാദേശികമായി ഇവര് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.
ചാന്നാര് ലഹളയില് പങ്കെടുത്തത് ചാന്നാര് സ്ത്രീകള് മാത്രമല്ല. സമൂഹത്തിലെ താഴ്ന്ന ജാതിക്കാരായ ഒട്ടേറെപ്പേര് മിഷനറിമാരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില് ഈ അവകാശപ്പോരാട്ടത്തില് അണിനിരന്നു.
ഒരു ജാതിയേയും അപമാനിക്കുക എന്ന ഉദ്ദേശ്യം ഈ കടത്തിണ്ണയില് ഇല്ല. വന്ന വഴികള് മറന്ന് ഒരു പ്രമുഖ മതത്തെ ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കി ഈഴവ ‘പ്രമാണി‘ നടേശനും പരിവാരങ്ങളും നടത്തുന്ന അസത്യ പ്രചാരണങ്ങളെയും സ്ഥാപിത താല്പര്യങ്ങള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി നടത്തുന്ന വിടുവേലകളെയും തുറന്നു കാട്ടുക എന്നത് മാത്രമായിരുന്നു ‘കൌമുദിയെകുറിച്ച് ചിലത്’ എന്ന പോസ്റ്റിനു പിന്നിലെ ഉദ്ദേശ്യം. അത് ആരെയെങ്കിലും വേദനിപ്പിച്ചുവെങ്കില് നിര്വ്യാജം മാപ്പു ചോദിക്കുന്നു.

സേവകന് അഥവാ അകമ്പടി സേവിക്കുന്നവന് എന്നത്. മൂന്നാമത് ചേകവന് എന്ന വാക്ക് ഭടന്മാരെയും പാരമ്പര്യമായി സൈനികവൃത്തി അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നവരെയും സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ഒരു
വാക്കിന് പല അര്ത്ഥങ്ങള് ഉള്ളത് മലയാളത്തില് മാത്രമല്ല ലോകഭാഷകളില് എല്ലാം തന്നെ ഉള്ളതാണ്. ചോകോന് എന്ന വാക്ക് അപമാനമായി കരുതി ഈഴവര് എന്നും

after converting himself to Buddhism send his daughter and son to SriLanka..You can find the
bodhi tree also in Sri Lanka..And once Buddhism flourished in SriLanka it came to Kerala , and since it came from Ezham the followers of that religion was given the name Ezhavas by migrant population during the re-entry of Hinduism in Kerala.
Ezhavas were not Padakurup and they will never claim to be so aswell, but they where indeed
Chekavars (not all of them, as Ezhavas had multifarous professions before the re-entry of
Hinduism), the skilled warriors who fights ankams..Padakurup never fought ankams.
Different Jobs of Ezhavas - Buddhist monks (Priests), Vaidyans (Physicians), Chekavars
(Warriors), Toddy Tappers (Toddy was an important ingredient in ayurvedic medicine, and as almost all vaidyans where from this community , there were many toddy tappers as well), Agriculturists etc..
Since these Ezhavas where not submissive to the migrant Namboothiris , they where pushed
down to lower social strata and were kept away from main stream as the Namboothiri control
over Kerala increased..Later on the profession of all Ezhavas was established as Toddy
tapping by the savarnas (its really interesting ,as if all Ezhavas ,who formed the majority of Kerala population at that time {many converted to christianity later} were toddy tappers,then almost every malayali would have been a drinker and did the land of Kera had that many cocunut trees? ), but almost all toddy tappers in Kerala were from Ezhava community, that doesnot mean all Ezhavas were toddy tappers.
Those who rule can do what ever they wish , and since they did what ever they liked , Kerala was a mental asylum(courtesy Swami Vivekanandan)..If we had a single good ruler the situation in Kerala would have been different.

ReplyDeleteNow, after reading through all these posts, I feel that people of kerala are most racist in India. Even after getting better education, their cultural standard is lowest. I will criticize the owner of this blog for all these nonsense, because he has initated this dirty discussion by abusing a community who have contributed enormously to the intellectual and cultural growth of keralayeen society. Moreover, owner of the blog should have considered the fact that majority of kerala Christians are converted ezhavas. So all those people who abuse each other are, in reality, abusing their own people.

The population of Ezhavas were 75 lacs when the number of toddy tappers were a mere 80,000. What sort of logic is it to call Ezhavas toddy tappers?

Everybody knows that Ezhavas did and continues to be engaged in a variety of professions: farming,weaving,Ayurvedic physicians, labourers, merchants and so on.
Budhism flourished in India for 1000 years before it declined. There is nothing to be surprised if Ezhavas were Budhists. Budha belongs to a period centuries before Jesus.
Everyone know who is adept at creating stories to show fake social status. That Namboothiri converted,why? Do not, a Christian have standing, unless he piggyback to a Namboothiri?

Also Nambudiri's base life style very much contradicting to the early christians who mainly worked and earned fighting in soil...!! So definitely the conversion happened among those who where in the working community..

I think you are not aware of the fact that 'pada kuruppu' means a warrior brand inside Nair community and 'Chekavan' or 'chekon' means warrior community inside Thiyya community especially in Malabar (kannur/koxhikode)Thacoli Othenan belongs to Kurup brand and is popularly known as Othena Kuruppu, while Aromal belongs to puthooram vedu which is a thiyya family still exists in Vatakara, so what i have to say is people must understand that there is no similarity in caste sense, between Pada Kuruppu and chekavan, but professionally both practice Kalari payattu and owns Kalari's across malabar. Its an historical fact, only idiotic blogs like this can lie like this who feels insecurity of our growth!!
